Two world champions and three regional title fights are part of the choice menu offered to boxing fans by Premium Boxing Promotions at the Robert Duran Arena in Panama city this coming Friday. Former WBA jr featherweight champion Ricardo” Maestrito” Cordoba (34-2-2, 21 KOs) will be stepping back into the ring after a five months layoff since being upset by Bernard Dunne in Ireland. The lanky southpaw will be facing hard punching Colombian prospect Eddy Julio (10-1-1, 9 KOs) and experts will be on the watch to see if Cordoba has recovered his much shaken confidence. “It’s a big question mark for everybody,” says Premium Boxing’s Hector Villarreal, “and the young Colombian Julio has nothing to lose. He will most likely try to jump on Cordoba from the get go. Maestrito will have to demonstrate that he has gotten over the Dunne debacle.” The co-main event bout of the night will see stylish WBA bantamweight Champion Anselmo Moreno (26-1-1,10 KOs) venture into the 122lb division against Colombian visitor Jorge Otero (20-9-2, 9 KOs), coming in on a four fight win streak. The twelve bout card will also present three regional WBA title bouts and a slew of young prospects, local talents and Panama based Haitian boxers Evans Pierre and Johny Dorisme. WBC light-llyweight champion Edgar Sosa is expected to honor the exciting boxing night as an invited guest.
