Big walk-up crowd expected!

By Francisco Salazar

The hottest ticket in Southern California on Saturday night could be for the much anticipated Vic Darchinyamn-Jorge Arce fight at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. “We have already sold 4,000 thus far for Saturday night,” said Top Rank publicist Ricardo Jimenez. Showtime will televise the Darchinyan-Arce fight along with the 12 round Lightweight bout between Antonio DeMarco and Almazbek “Kid Diamond” Raiymkulov. Jimenez did go on to state that, over two years ago, half of the over 7,000 tickets sold at Honda Center headlining Arce on January 27th, 2007 were sold on Friday and Saturday night. Arce faced Julio David Roque Ler, while Kelly Pavlik took Jose Luis Zertuche. Doors open at 3PM local time, with first bell at 3:30PM. Showtime will begin its broadcast at 9PM ET.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
