World super middleweight contender Sakio Bika has been released from Contender Series contract that had been in force until 2012. Bika spoke to Fightnews to say he is happy about being a free agent and has talked to Oscar De La Hoya and also that he is looking forward to fights with IBF 168 champ Lucian Bute, former WBA champ Anthony Mundine and world rated 160 pounder Daniel Geale.

You have recently returned from the USA where you had talks with the management of the contender series who had you under contract until 2012. Please tell me about the conversation regarding you been released from there contract making you a free agent.

I had gone to the states to watch the Mayweather fight and to try to organise a fight for myself. While I was there, I was surprised to find out that the Tournament of Contenders (TOC) whom I had a 5 year contract with, had decided to terminate it. It was a complete surprise to me. I am now a free agent.

You had talks with Oscar De La Hoya and other promoters in the USA.. Were there any offers of future bouts.>

I met with Oscar at the weigh in for Floyd Mayweather’s fight. At that moment, I did not know about my release from TOC so I did not have any opportunity to talk business with him. I spoke with a number of high profile people about getting me a fight so I am hoping there may be something soon.

You were close to a fight with former WBA super middlweight champion Anthony Mundine. Did that fight fall over because of your contract with Contender? Are you still chasing Mundine?

I think it is time for Mundine to chase me. I am not desperate. Khoder suggested for me to fight Mundine but there was never any meeting or offer in writing.

Mundine was lucky to get the decision over Daniel Geale in May. Did you have Geale winning that fight. Please give me your thoughts?

Yes, Daniel Geale clearly won that fight.

Would you be interested in making middleweight poundage to fight Geale. You have boxed many rounds in the gym with him. Can you defeat him?

No, I will not be chasing Daniel for a fight. He needs to chase me. I have the profile. I have no interest in fighting him.

Are you still unhappy that you were overlooked by Showtime when they selected the 168 pound boxers to fight there Super Six super middleweight series.. Are you confident you could have defeated Arthur Abraham, Jermain Taylor and Mikkel Kessler?

Absolutely, I can defeat them all. I wish them all the best and would gladly fight the winner of the tournament!

You are highly rated with the IBF as a super middleweight. Are you still after rematch with Lucian Bute. He defeated you a few years ago. Please tell me about that fight?

I want to fight the winner of Bute and Andrade which is on the 28th November in Quebec, Canada.

How many years left in boxing for Sakio Bika?

I have too many years left in me! My body will tell me when it has had enough.
