Biosse and Gingras battle to a draw

By Loren Goodman at ringside

In an all-out war, local champion Vladine Biosse retained his New England Super Middleweight Title with a hard-fought eight round majority draw against former Contender participant Rich Gingras on Saturday night at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Gingras pressed forward most of the fight, landing wide right hooks and uppercuts. Biosse, who fought off the ropes for the majority of the contest, had some success with his own sharp straight lefts. Gingras’ fans were disappointed, as Gingras was initially announced as the winner by majority decision. Several minutes later, the ring announcer indicated that the judges’ scorecards had been miscalculated, with the result a majority draw (Lima 76-76, Feldman 76-76, Hays 77-75 for Gingras).

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
