Australian Light Heavyweight Blake Caparello 17-0 (9 KOs) has been sparring for the last 2 weeks in Montreal at Gym Promotions headquarters under the supervision of head trainer Marc Ramsay. The Australian has been sparring rounds with former World champion Jean Pascal, WBA # 4 Eleider Alvarez and decorated amateur Artur Beterbiev.

Caparello, scheduled to fight Allan Green 32-4 (22 ko’s) for the vacant IBO Light Heavyweight title in Australia on October 17, is very appreciative for the work: “I can’t thank Gym Promotions enough for the sparring,” stated Caparello, ” Marc Ramsay runs such a professional team and is very helpful with advice. I can learn quite a lot from this experience.”

When asked about sparring former World champion Jean Pascal, Caparello replied: “Jean Pascal is a champion. I have followed his career with interest and it’s an honour to be sparring him. That work has helped me and will benefit me in my fights moving forward.”

I asked Caparello about his upcoming IBO World title fight vs Allan Green and he replied: “I only just found out about it a few days ago when the promoter announced it on Facebook so it was a bit of a shock. I knew my team were working on something big but I had no idea it was this big.”

In closing Blake added: “I would like to thank Gym Promotions Yvon Michel, Marc Ramsay and Jean Pascal, Eleider Alvarez and Artur Beterbiev for the sparring.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
