Johnny Garcia, fresh off his big upset win over Yordenis Ugas on national TV, looks to keep his unbeaten record intact in front of his hometown fans as he fights in the main event on promoter’s Tony Arsulowicz’ “Quake At The Lake” card at the Holland Civic Center, Holland, MI on Saturday, May 19. Arsulowicz most familiar to Michigan boxing fans for his in ring announcer duties, puts on the promoter hat for this one and has a planned 8 bout card on tap. Tentatively scheduled to face Garcia in the 8 round main event is James Ventry from Niagara Falls. Should Ventry not be able to make this date (much will depend on the outcome of his fight in New England on May 9), other possible foes for Garcia have been lined up.
Outstanding amateur heavyweight Jordan Shimmell from nearby Hudsonville will be making his pro debut against Kamarje Harrison of Jackson. Shimmell a former Michigan and National Golden Glove champion brings loads of amateur experience into this one and is seeking to make a name for himself in the punch for pay ranks.
Local undefeated hopeful Raeese Aleem is also in one of the feature attractions as he matches up with Ralph Gramajo of Kansas City. Featherweight Aleem has impressed in his first two pro outings and plans on building his resume further with this fight.
Featured in the remaining prelims (all bouts under Garcia main event are set for 4 rounds) are local favorites Craig Schwallier and Caleb Grummet in separate contests. Patrick Boozer of Ann Arbor and Ernesto Garza of Saginaw make the trip to the west side of the state to face Trav Watson and DeWayne Wisdom respectively.
