Former top amateur Stan Martyniouk (11-1) returns to action at the Woodlake Hotel in Sacramento, Calif., on Sept. 14 against Javier Garcia (8-2-1) in a main-event showdown of junior-lightweight prospects. Martyniouk, from nearby Antelope, is coming off a decisive win in June at the same venue, while the Oxnard, Calif.-based Garcia, trained by uncle and former world 130-pound champion Robert Garcia, has won five in a row after a near three-year absence from competition following an opponent’s death. Jackson Bussell of Reno, Nev., collapsed and died a day after a draw with Garcia in a 2007 fight. The show is being promoted by Nasser Niavaroni of Uppercut Promotions.
