Boxing back in San Diego!

By Felipe Leon

On February 12, Bobby D. Presents has joined forces with Jorge Marron Productions to showcase the first professional bout card on the year in San Diego. The five fight showcase will be headlined by an eight round bantamweight state championship fight between Christopher Martin (12-0-2, 2 KOs) and Trinidad “Trini” Mendoza (24-18-2, 19 KOs). In their last face off, the undefeated Martin won a hard fought decision over the hard hitting veteran.

“I admit that the last time we faced each other Martin fought a smart fight, but this time it’s for the state title so now I will make sure the outcome is different,” stated Mendoza.

Local favorite Martin has a different idea in mind, “I know what Mendoza brings to the table. I have been working very hard because I am ready to earn my first title in my hometown and I will not let anybody get in my way.”

In the semi main event, super featherweight Andrew Cancio (7-1, 7KO) will take on the always dangerous TBA.

Three more bouts fill out the undercard.

The promotion returns once again to the new home of professional boxing in San Diego, the Four Points Sheraton Hotel. The venue is located at 8110 Aero Drive, San Diego, CA 92123. The venue is all ages and food and drinks will be served. Tickets can be purchased at the hotel gift shop or by calling 619.420.8866.

    Help Support Fightnews.com®

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
