The newly created Jab Promotions boxing company will come back to St. Petersburg on April 24 with another huge night of boxing. In a main event, WBO #12 middleweight Gennady Martirosian (16-1, 6 KOs) will defend his PABA belt for the first time against skilled American veteran Aaron Mitchell (27-1-1, 21 KOs) in the biggest fight of his career. Martirosyan, 29, is coming off a huge streak of victories over solid opposition, while 39-year old Mitchell is best known for his stoppage victory over former champion Manning Galloway in 2001 and a split decision loss to another titlist Keith Mullings all way back to 1993.
“Aaron Mitchell is a nice challenger for our boxer”, said Jab Promotions’ vice-president Alexander Yagupov. “However, he is a late replacement for British Patrick J Maxwell, who had fought himself out of the fight thanks to his strange loss to 7-21-4 fighter last weekend”.
In another interesting match-up of the night, cruiserweight Alexander Kotlobay (13-1, 8 KOs) will be tested by hard-nosed Czech Lubos Suda (20-2-1, 14 KOs) in a non-title ten-rounder. Suda has a victory of the former WBA champion First Arslan (who was 18-2-1 at the time) in his sixth pro fight.
Rising heavyweight Maxim Maslov (7-0, 5 KOs) is set for literally the biggest opponent in his short career in 6’9’’ Ukrainian Alexander Kabanov (6-2, 4 KOs). Two unbeaten welterweight will collide when Tajik Sherali Mamedaliev (4-0, 2 KOs) and Finnish Jussi Koivula enter the ring. Finally, another welterweight Daniil Utenkov (4-0, 3 KOs) is set to clash against Ugandan puncher Hassan Saku (10-6, 9 KOs) in the starting bout of the evening. All three fights are scheduled for six rounds.
