New kid on the scene, V&B Promotions, is set to put on their next show on Saturday, June 15th, at the Municipal Auditorium in Tijuana, Mexico. This will mark the third time that V&B, led by San Diego trainer Joe Vargas and Tijuana fighter Emilio Bojorquez, put on a fight card loaded with boxing talent from both sides of the border. In the main event, Tijuana super bantamweight Christian “Huevo” Bojorquez (10-0, 2KOs) takes on the limited Erick “Danger” Jimenez (0-5), also of Tijuana.
Bojorquez, an amateur standout, is steadily building his record and although he should have an easy outing this Saturday, he has faced tough opposition. In his most difficult fight to date, Bojorquez took a highly controversial split decision win over “School Boy” Walter Sarnoi in which both fighters met the canvas. Since then Bojorquez stopped Daniel Gonzalez in one and went the distance with Cesar De La Mora in six.
As far as Jimenez, he is still in search of that elusive first win and has come up short against Victor Ruiz, Guadalupe Barrera and Rafael Rivera among others.
Also seeing action on Saturday night will be rookie super flyweight Jose Toribio (2-0, 1KO) of San Diego in a four rounder while Antonio Margarito backed junior flyweight Abraham “Choko” Hernandez (1-0, 1KO) is also slated for four rounds.
From San Diego, super bantamweight Jorge “Tito” Ruiz (2-0, 1KO) will look for his third win against TBA as tough Tijuana jr. welterweight Victor “Cina” Fonseca (4-1-1, 2KOs) takes on Jose Arteaga (1-1-1).
In a competitive bantamweight four rounder, Julio Castillo (0-1) will face off against Marino Cañete (1-2), both of Tijuana.
Three more fights flesh out the card.
The doors of the Municipal Auditorium open at 7:30pm with the first punch thrown at 8:00pm. The Auditorium is located a 10-minute cab ride from the San Diego/Tijuana border.
