Boxing back in Tinsel Town Friday

Art of Boxing Promotions in association with Bash Boxing, Inc. and Pitbull Boxing Promotions will return on Friday to the Florentine Gardens in Hollywood, California, with an attractive USBA jr welterweight title clash between Cleotis “Mookie” Pendarvis (15-3-2, 5 KOs) and Michael “Cold Blood” Clark (43-7-1, 18 KOs).

Pendarvis, the much lauded local prospect who has been a regular sparring partner for future Hall of Famers Manny Pacquaio, Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito, and Ricky Hatton, stepped out of the shadows in his last bout by capturing the USBA belt against Robert Frenkel (31-12-1, 6 KOs). Clark, a veteran of the Contender TV show and former world title challenger, became mandatory challenger for Pendarvis’ USBA title with an upset of previously undefeated Jake Giuriceo (16-0-1) in his last bout.

Three more bouts were added today bringing the undercard to nine bouts.

Undefeated Los Angeles Middleweight prospect Louis Rose (5-0, 1KO) faces the toughest test of his professional career when he squares off against former Oakland Raiders cornerback and Golden Glove winner, Tony Hirsch (13-5-2, 6KOs) in a six round bout.

Also in heavyweight action, Jonathan “Beauty Salon” Hamm (3-0, 3KO) looks to extend his knockout streak against Phillip Triantafillo (2-1, 2KO) and Charles Martin (1-0, 1KO) looks to pick up his second professional win in as many bouts against Terrence Perro (1-1, 1KO).

The rest of the undercard includes undefeated Russian/Ukrainian super middleweight import Marat Kulumbegov (8-0-1, 5 KOs) taking on Billy Bailey (12-15, 4KOs), former World Series of Boxing cruiserweight Vyacheslav Shabranskyy (1-0, 1 KO) taking on Michael Glenn 2-4-2 (1KO), undefeated Russian import Alexander Filichkin (11-0, 3KO) vs Jesus Vallejo (5-7-1, 5 KOs), David “Thunder” Clark (5-2, 4 KOs) against Daniel Modad (6-7, 4KOs), Paulie Malignaggi protégé Dimash Niyazov (2-0, 1KO) squaring off against Ralph “The Black Angel” Prescott (2-7, 2KO), and undefeated East L.A. Light Welterweight and huge fan favorite Fabian “Lil Rocky” Ocegueda (7-0, 5KOs) battling veteran Arturo Brambila (9-16, 4 KO).

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
