WBO #4/WBA #7/IBF #10/WBC #14 cruiserweight BJ Flores (24-0-1, 15 KOs) says he’s now a promotional free agent after his contract with Florida-based Square Ring Inc. has run out. Flores has been inactive for the past year, but says he’s ready to deal directly with the promoters of all the champions and top contenders.
Antonio Margarito has submitted his application for a boxing license in Texas. Dallas’ Cowboys Stadium is the frontrunner to host Margarito’s November 13th fight against Manny Pacquiao.
Nothing official on any postponement for the scheduled September 25th Super Six showdown between Andre Ward and Andre Direll, but it’s getting late. Thus far promoters Dan Goossen and Gary Shaw have yet to reach a deal on a fight location.
January 29 is the working date for a proposed 140lb clash between world champions Tim Bradley and Devon Alexander.
WFC female welterweight titleholder Jessica Balogun (16-1, 7 KOs) is scheduled to return August 28 in Oeschelbronn, Germany. Her original opponent from Kenya fell out due to visa problems and promoter Mario Guedes is looking for a replacement.
