Guerrero batters Arrieta

Former world champion Robert Guerrero (26-1-1, 18 KOs) scored an eighth round TKO over Roberto Arrieta (35-16-4, 16 KOs) in a lightweight bout on Friday night at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Guerrero dropped Arrieta in rounds two and three and punished him until round eight when he dropped Adama again and the bout was waved off at :29 of the eighth.
18-year-old former amateur star Frankie Gomez (2-0, 2 KOs) scored a second round TKO over Ricardo Malfavon (0-2) in a welterweight bout. The bout was stopped at 1:06, shortly after Gomez dropped Malfavon.
In lightweight action, Abner Cotto (7-0, 4 KOs) remained undefeated by outpointing Juan Sandoval (1-3) via unanimous decision (40-36 on all three judges’ scorecards)
In a battle of Jr. Lightweights, Toddy Junior (2-0-1) and Rene Torres (0-1-1) battled to a majority draw. Scores were 39-37 for Torres with the other two judges scoring it 38-38.
