Boxing In Paradise II

By Boxing Bob Newman

Boxing returns to Paradise in sunny St. Thomas, USVI as 340 promotions and Sampson Boxing in association with Warriors Boxing and Arano Box Producciones present “Boxing In Paradise II” at the UVI Sports and Fitness Center on Friday, March 27. It goes without saying that the local attraction will be the brothers Jackson – John and Julius, the offspring of two-division world champion Julian Jackson, fresh off their January 30, 2009 pro debuts. Headlining the seven bout card will be a WBA Fedelatin welterweight title bout between defending champion, Argentine Hector Saldavia and Indonesian challenger Daudy Bahari, scheduled for eleven rounds.

Rounding out the card are fellow St. Thomian and Jackson brothers cousin Samuel Rogers, power punching Aruban cruiserweight Evan Nedd, debuting St. Croix lightweight Otoniel Ortiz and undefeated Oxnard, CA Jr. lightweight prospect Fernando Quintero.

Co-promoter Sampson Lewkowicz is optimistic about the future of his fighters and boxing in the Caribbean, “I look at these shows as investments in the future- both of boxing in the islands and for the boxers themselves. These fighters have a following here and will eventually have a following beyond the islands, wait and see!”

Tickets are $25/$35 in advance, $40/$50 day of show.
