With a much anticipated battle between two Tijuana fighters, Antonio “Cañitas” Lozada Jr. and Rodrigo Juarez, Baja Boxing comes back with their second fight card of the year on July 17th at the El Foro Theatre in downtown Tijuana, MX. The main event will be televised nationally in Mexico by Televisa. The undefeated Lozada Jr. (22-0, 19KOs) will be risking his newly acquired WBC FECARBOX jr. welterweight title against Juarez (15-11-1, 11KOs) in a dangerous match up for the young fighter who will be facing an opponent who has him beat in experience.
Juarez is coming off giving Omar Chavez, son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., all he could handle in a losing effort. Chavez was awarded a controversial split decision.
Juarez has faced the much stronger opposition than Lozada Jr. with bouts against Mauro “Betillo Gutierrez who he fought to a draw, Rafael Cobos, Jose Pinzon, Enrique “Colinsillo” Colin, Zaid Zavaleta and Manuel “Pirry” Leyva among others. Against Zavaleta, Juarez was able to erase his opponent’s “0”, handing Zavaleta his first loss.
Lozada in his last bout defeated Colombian Henry Aurad to capture the vacant title.
Along with the Lozada-Juarez bout, Baja Boxing will also present three more FECARBOX title fights in which Tijuana fighters will also be featuered.
At bantamweight, David “Morita” De La Mora (20-0, 14KOs) will defend his FECARBOX title, which he won the same night as Lozada Jr, against Elvis Garcia (9-6-3, 5KOs) of Colombia while Marvin “Cachorro” Quintero (19-2, 15KOs) will face Humberto “Metralleta” Martinez (19-4-11 14KOs), also of Colombia, for the super featherweight title. In the lightweight division, Tijuana’s Alain “Konan” Hernandez (18-7-2, 10KOs) will face off against Antonio “Bazooka” Cervantes (8-5-2, 3KOs) of Ensenada, MX.
