Boxing returns to Florentine Gardens on March 14

Art of Boxing Promotions in association with Bash Boxing, Inc. will return to World Famous Hollywood Boulevard on Thursday, March 14, 2012 for HOLLYWOOD FIGHT NIGHT IV at the Legendary Florentine Gardens. Known for its entertaining action both inside and outside of the ring, the next installment of HOLLYWOOD FIGHT NIGHT, the only professional boxing show in the City of Stars, will once again feature a card filled with intriguing matchups between local Los Angeles fighters. In the main event, undefeated knockout specialist Terrell “Tyger” Williams (9-0, 8KOs) will take on his most stern challenge to date in tough-as-nails veteran gate keeper, Luis Alfredo Lugo (13-17-1, 5KOs). Williams, a tall and rangy welterweight, is becoming more and more popular on the L.A. boxing circuit, drawing comparisons to a young Thomas Hearns for both his physical attributes and propensity to stop his opponents within the distance.

Two Super Bantamweight tilts featuring four local fighters also highlight this Thursday’s HOLLYWOOD FIGHT NIGHT. In a potential 6 round thriller, hard-hitting Hollywood resident and former NABO Bantamweight Champion, Khabir “The Crazy Russian” Suleymanov (13-3, 6KOs) will face off against Carson’s Raymond “Bad Boy” Chacon (4-5). Chacon, a former local prep standout in baseball, basketball, and football training out of The Rock in Carson, has never been stopped in 9 professional fights where even his losses against undefeated prospects Erik Ruiz (7-0) and Manual Avila (11-0) have been tight affairs with decisions that could have gone either way. Suleymanov, who has been in the ring with world class opponents such as Chris Avalos (21-2) and World Title Challenger Alberto Guevara (16-1), will look to end a two-fight losing streak with new trainer Phil Paulina from New York City Boxing Club in Woodland Hills.

The young pride of the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy, Erik Ruiz (7-0, 3KOs), will make his fourth appearance at HOLLYWOOD FIGHT NIGHT with his toughest challenge to date in Maywood “Bad Boyz” Boxing Club’s Oscar Venegas (3-1, 2KOs). Venegas, the proud son of two Mexican parents from Sonora and Zacatecas, hopes to fulfill his early promise as a standout amateur and hand Ruiz his first loss as a professional. Ruiz, who hails from a boxing family that includes fellow undefeated Top Rank welterweight boxing prospect Andrew Ruiz (6-0, 4KOs), looks to continue to climb the ranks of the Super Bantamweight division with his first six rounder.

Continuing the trend of facing their toughest professional challenges to date, World Series of Boxing Veteran Vyacheslav Shabransky (2- 0, 2KO) takes on hard-hitting KO artist Emmanuel Wright (5-1, 5KOs). Shabransky, a recent father for the first, hopes to celebrate the birth of his new daughter with his third knockout in as many tries as a professional since leaving the L.A. Matadors of the World Series of Boxing.

In another six round affair, Freddie Roach trained British import Liam Vaughan (6-1, 1KO) takes on Little Rock’s Antron Pearson (2-3, 1KO) in a light middleweight tilt. Vaughan has spent the past several months sparring the best fighters in the world and hopes to show the Hollywood faithful what he has learned at Wildcard Boxing Club.

The big men will also be on display as fast-rising undefeated Heavyweight Charles Martin (5-0, 5KOs) will look to make it six stoppages in as many tries against Chicago’s Phillip Triantafillo (2-1, 1KO).
