After a 5 month hiatus boxing will return to the Miccosukee Resort and Gaming in Miami, Florida on October 22. In the main event, WBO Latin welterweight champion Jesus Pabon of Carolina, Puerto Rico will make the first defense of his title when he meets his toughest opponent so far in hard-punching veteran Antonio Pitalua of Mexico City, Mexico in a bout scheduled for 12 rounds with Pabon’s Title at stake.
For Pabon, it will be homecoming, he has fought in Florida 12 times, 11 of them in South Florida, he won the title by defeating Ernesto “Baby” Zepeda by TKO in 8 rounds last August 13 in Tampa and is currently ranked #15 by the WBO with a record of 15-1, 9 KOs.
On the other hand, Pitalua, who was born in Monteria, Colombia but has been a Mexico City resident for the last 18 years, is a former WBO Latin champion, world title challenger and is on a four fight winning streak. His record is an amazing 50-4, 44 KOs.
There will be seven additional bouts. Doors open at 7:30 PM with the first fight at 8:30 PM. Tickets are already on sale at the Miccosukee Resort and Gaming 500 SW 177 Ave. Miami, Florida and at all Ticketmaster locations starting at $20.
The bout will be televised live at 11:35 PM by the Telemundo Network on HD as part of the successful series of “Boxeo TELEMUNDO” and Promoted by Tuto Zabala, Jr. of All Star Boxing, Inc.
