Bradley-Marquez scorecard analysis

By Miguel Maravilla

All three judges agreed that WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley won rounds two, five, six and seven, and that Juan Manuel Marquez won round nine. Judge Robert Hoyle (115-113 Bradley) gave seven of the first eight rounds to Bradley, then gave the last four to Marquez. Judge Patricia Morse Jarman (116-112 Bradley) and Glenn Feldman (115-113 Marquez) scored all but one round the same through nine rounds and had the fight close. Feldman had Marquez up 86-85 and Jarman had Bradley up 86-85. Feldman gave rounds ten and eleven to Marquez and round twelve to Bradley. Jarman gave the last three rounds to Bradley. Entering the last round, Bradley was ahead 106-103 on two cards and Marquez was ahead 106-103 on the third card, so even a knockdown in the final stanza wouldn’t have changed the outcome.
