Brähmer, Zbik defend Dec. 19

“Universum Champions Night“ comes to the Sport and Kongresshalle in Schwerin, Germany on December 19 with a world title twinbill featuring the two hometown world champions Jürgen Brähmer (34-2, 28 KOs) and Sebastian Zbik (27-0, 10 KOs). Brähmer will defend his WBO interim light heavyweight championship against an opponent to be named, while Zbik will take on unbeaten WBC #15 ranked Emanuele Della Rosa (22-0, 7 KOs) from Rome, Italy. “I’m very happy about [boxing in] Schwerin,” said Brähmer. “For me it’s the best thing that can happen to me. To defend a world championship belt outside my front door was always my dream.“ Zbik is also thrilled to have a home match. “This will be the personal highlight of my career,” he stated. “I hope, that all my friends and relatives will be there. The hall will certainly be a bubbling cauldron with two local fighters in action. I’m very excited and will give everything [in the ring]!“

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
