The final “Universum Champions Night” will take place December 19 in Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, when homegrown world champions Jürgen Brähmer und Sebastian Zbik defend their belts in a world title twinbill. Jürgen Brähmer (34-2, 28 KOs) will be defending his WBO light heavyweight belt against unbeaten WBO #10 Dmitry Sukhotsky (14-0, 9 KOs). “It couldn’t be better,” said Brähmer at today’s press conference. “My first title defense in my city of Schwerin. To box here was always a big wish of mine. With Sukhotsky I have an offensive opponent I don’t have to look for – and that should suit me!”

Brähmer’s trainer Michael Timm stated, “After the first failed attempt at the world title, Jürgen is another Brähmer. Now, he gives 100 percent every day, has taken it to another level and is doing everything possible to defend this world title. It’s an honor for us all and as a “Schweriner” myself, I’m very proud as a that we can present this event here in Schwerin with two world champions from the region as a home game.”
WBC interim middleweight champion Sebastian Zbik (27-0, 10 KOs) will defend his belt against undefeated Emanuele Della Rosa (22-0, 7 KOs). “It’s very important for me to have a great fight for the home audience,” commented Zbik. “Della Rosa is a relentless attacker, but at least we’ve seen him before. Expect a spectacular battle. “I look forward to the fight, and especially to the Schwerin audience!”
Co-trainer Artur Grigorian added “We are well prepared for the Italians – and we eat spaghetti every day!”
Another Mecklenburger will see action on the card as unbeaten featherweight Marcel Meyerdiercks (14-0, 5 KOs) will face an opponent to be named.
Schwerin Mayor Angelika Gramkow stated that both she and the Schwerin populace have had a great desire to host a major international boxing event in the city. “With the renovation of the Sports and Convention Hall, we’ve done our part and now on December 19 two world champions come back to their city. We’re looking forward to great fights and, of course, their victories!”
