Australian light heavyweight Trent Broadhurst (11-1, 7 KOs) outscored Fiji-based, Ghana-born Joseph Kwadjo (21-6, 16 KOs) over eight rounds at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, Australia on Thursday. Broadhurst showed good skills to control most of the rounds against the experienced Kwadjo. Referee Allan Moore deducted Kwadjo a point for headbutt in round five. Scores were Tony Kettlewell 79-72, Adam Height 79-73, Allan Burford 79-72. Broadhurst was recently signed by top American promoter Gary Shaw who had been impressed with the 6.1″ Aussie in regular sparring sessions with IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale.
Also light heavyweight Leon James (3-1, 2 KOs) outpointed Tony Watene (0-2) over four rounds, 40-36, 40-37, 40-36. And heavyweight Hunter Sam (6-1-2, 3 KOs) scored a KO over Paul Samways (1-1, 1 KO) in round two of a scheduled four. Referee Tony Kettlewell crowned Sam at 0.35.
