Browne looks to topple Towers, then Price

Heavyweight Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne (16-0, 14 KOs) takes on 6’8 Englishman Richard Towers (14-0, 11 KOs) in a final eliminator for the Commonwealth heavyweight title at the Melbourne Pavilion on July 25. Victory over Towers would put Browne in line for a clash with reigning Commonwealth champion and Olympic bronze medalist David Price, who is coming off consecutive KO losses to Tony Thompson. “David Price is in a position where he needs to decide whether boxing at that level is really for him,” Browne stated. “If he wants to defend his title, I’d be happy, of course, if Hatton Promotion would stage such a great fight in Australia, but anyway I would also be more than happy to come to the UK to fight him.” Browne is coming off a unanimous decision over James Toney in April.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
