Bundrage-Smith Media Workout

Report and photos by Bob Ryder

Cornelius Bundrage and Ishe Smith went through light workouts at the Bad Boy Gym in the Detroit suburb of Royal Oak on Wednesday afternoon in advance of their fight on Saturday night. Semi-main event contestants J’Leon Love and Derrick Findley also did some work for the gathered media. All four appeared to be in fine shape and were ready with some comments on their upcoming fights:

Cornelius K-9 Bundrage: “I ain’t playing, Ishe is in trouble! He came here with nothing and he will go back to Vegas with nothing. When it’s time to fight the dog will bite!”

Ishe Smith: There’s a mutt roaming the streets of Detroit, heard he was an old dog too! Got to get him off the streets, got to clean up the streets here. They think I’m gonna box him but I’m going to take him out! 40 year old barking like a dog, like he’s got rabies!”

J’Leon Love: “No issue for me in taking on Findley rather than McKart. We are prepared and feel great. I’m ready for him to come out aggressively but he’s going to find out J’Leon Love is no Ronald Hearns!” (Findley knocked out Hearns here in Detroit area last October).

Derrick Findley: “You know I resent this build up for Love. He’s ok, but just because you are with Money (Mayweather) does not make you a super star. He hasn’t fought anybody. I was in training to fight Rubio when I got the call to fight Love and I’m ready!”

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
