Bundu-Jerez in Italy

By Enrico “Erik” Crociati

Promoter Mario Loreni will stage an exposive WBA Intercontinental title clash at the welterweight limit on Friday night at the Nelson Mandela Forum in Florence, Italy. Italian boxing superstar Leonard Bundu (20-0-1, 6 KOs) and former South American challenger Carlos Adan Jerez (30-11-3, 16 KOs) are the co-challengers for the vacant crown. Both fighters are very hard and strong warriors. ‘Boom Boom’ Bundu, a former amateur star is extremely popular in Italy, due to his power and his aggressive style and currently is the European Union 147lb titlist, but Jerez, is a real ‘steel-man’ with vicious punch and is probably at the peak of his career, after a very impressive 2009, where he has knocked out former WBA contender Javier Alberto Mamani.

All in all, a very compelling matchup for an International belt.

In the chief support, local hero Rodrigo Bracco (10-2, 4 KOs) will fight Pio Antonio Nettuno (5-0, 1 KO) for the vacant Italian crown at bantamweight limit. On the other undercard matchups, hard puncher light heavyweight Vigan Mustafa (12-2, 6 KOs) faces vicious Czech warrior Jindrich Velecky (16-8, 15 KOs), junior lightweight rising star Massimiliano Ballisai (8-0, 5 KOs) battles decent Armenian Araik Sachbazjan (12-11, 5 KOs) and local boy, lightweight Angelo Ardito (3-2) takes on his sixth match as a prizefighter against Youness Laribi (3-3-1).

Bundu vs Jerez and Bracco vs Nettuno will be aired live on RAISPORT-PIU’ starting at 10:20pm local time.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
