Italian welterweight star Leonard Bundu (18-0-1, 6 KOs) won a one-sided unanimous decision over Frenchman warrior Frank Haroche Horta (18-8-3, 5 KOs) last night at The Nelson Mandela Forum in Florence, Italy. With the win local idol Bundu won the Union European Title at 147lbs.
Bundu came forward in his usual toe-to-toe style, in front of his adoring fans in a sold-out arena on a good evening of boxing staged by Mario Loreni and used his superior ring craft with an effective body work to gain the control of the clash and his superior boxing skills were clear. Horta tried to re-enter in the fight but he did not have the tools to counter Bundu’s pressing and persistent attacks. Bundu then remained in a comfortable spot for the remainder of the bout, and was able to win the rest of the rounds. At the conclusion, scores were 117-112, 117-110 and 118-111 for the new European Union champ.
On the undercard, rising light heavyweight Cristian Marchetti (7-0, 4 KOs) passed his sternest test decisioning former national contender and stablemate Maurizio Lovaglio (5-6, 4 KOs) over six rounds while Massimiliano Ballisai (5-0, 3 KOs) won a hard fight outpointing after eight rounds Mario Salis (1-4-1, 1KO) in a very good and balanced fight and win a super featherweight Trophy ‘Italy Pro Cup’ for young’s professional fighter.
