Burns-Vazquez off again?

WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns has reportedly split from Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren putting in doubt his April 20 unification fight against IBF champion Miguel “Titere” Vazquez in London. Burns’ manager Alex Morrison informed reporters that Burns’ next fight will take place in Glasgow and that the partnership with Warren is over. He stated that the Burns camp felt Ricky was stagnating after having two fights called off and he doubts Burns-Vazquez would have gone ahead on April 20 or ever. Warren maintains that these statements are false and has filed a defamation lawsuit against Morrison.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
