Busy Thursday for JuanMa

Unbeaten WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel “Juanma” Lopez had a busy Thursday, spending time with his promoter, Bob Arum, and the Mayor of Bayamon, Ramon Luis Rivera, at the Mayor’s Office, and then working out at Jose “Cheo” Aponte Torres Gym in Caguas, Puerto Rico. His trainers are Alex Caraballa (dark shirt) and Louis Gonzalez (light shirt).

In this Saturday’s main event at Ruben Rodriguez Coliseo in Bayamon on SHOWTIME® (10:30 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast), the popular, exciting Puerto Rican will defend his WBO 126-pound belt against former IBF champion Orlando Salido of Mexico.

In the co-feature on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING, undefeated Luis Cruz of Puerto Rico faces Mexico’s world-ranked Martin “El Brochas’’ Honorio in a 10-round junior lightweight bout.

    Help Support Fightnews.com®

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
