Caballero, Saenz score KOs

Sensational young prospects Randy Caballero and Gabino Saenz scored first round knockouts this past Friday night in the off-TV portion of ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California.

After the ESPN2 broadcast went off the air, the loud and proud legion of fans from Coachella, California, cheered as the sound system-blasted “Matador” by Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, signaling the ring walk of the 19 year old Caballero.

Facing off in a scheduled four round super bantamweight bout against Denver’s Jairo Delgado, Caballero moved smoothly around the ring, peppering Delgado with a piston like jab over the first half of the initial stanza.

As Delgado missed with an overhand right, Caballero drilled him with a counter right to the chin, blasting him to the canvas, the stoppage coming at the two minute mark.

With the win, Caballero improved to 4-0-0 with four first round knockouts. Having spent a week recently sparring in Northern California with Nonito Donaire, Robert Guerrero and Steven Luevano, Caballero will return to the gym this week.

Following Caballero’s bout, Indio’s Gabino Saenz headed to the ring for his highly anticipated pro debut, supported by scores of fans sporting Team Saenz t-shirts including junior welterweight world champion Timothy Bradley.

Scheduled for four rounds against Colorado’s Brandon Sanchez in the featherweight division, 21 year old Saenz wasted no time, pounding Sanchez to the body and head with a beautiful left hook combination earning the stoppage at the :34 second mark.

Details of Caballero’s and Saenz upcoming bouts will be announced shortly.
