Champion Ivan Calderon and his next challenger Rodel Mayol squared off today in Puerto Rico at their final press conference. The two will go at it for real this Saturday at the Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. This past June the two fought at Madison Square Garden. The bout ended in a six-round technical draw because Calderon was unable to continue due to an accidental head butt he suffered in the fourth round. Both fighters spoke confidently at the press conference today. Champion Ramon ‘Rocky’ Martinez was in attendance as well as he will be making his first title defense in the semi-main event.

Ivan Rivera (President of PR Best Boxing, promoter of Calderon and Martinez): “I’m very happy that this bout will be aired in Puerto Rico as well as all over the United States on pay-per-view. This will be an excellent opportunity for those in the U.S. to see Calderon and Martinez show that they are true world champions.”

Ivan Calderon: “I had a very good training camp and I’m in excellent condition. Even though I am already a champion I’m still very hungry to accomplish a lot more in my career. It’s going to begin on Saturday night. I may be 34 but I fight like I’m 24. I know Mayol is determined to win my title but he will be leaving Puerto Rico without it as it will stay with me.”

Rodel Mayol: “I’m very happy to be here in Puerto Rico. The fans are going to be treated to an excellent fight and a very good show. There is no doubt in my mind that I am going to win this fight and become champion.”

Rocky Martinez: “This is my first defense and I’m going to make it a spectacular and successful one. I’ve added a lot of new things to my game that I will put on display come Saturday night in a successful win.”

The “Unbeaten Champions” PPV card is presented by PR Best Boxing Promotions Inc.
