By Jesse Kelley

Middleweights “Golden” Caleb Truax (22-1-1, 13 KOs) of Osseo, MN and “Sir” Cerresso Fort (17-1-1, 11 KOs) of Saint Paul, MN will meet on September 21 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, MN. The vacant USBA middleweight title will be on the line as well as Truax’s Minnesota State middleweight title. Truax is coming off of a dominant sixth round stoppage win over Donovan George on ESPN this past June. In Fort’s last bout, the Saint Paul fighter also turned in a good performance against Marcus Upshaw, winning by 8 round unanimous decision. Fort and Upshaw has previously fought to a split draw in 2011. Also on the card, Jeremy McLaurin (10-5-1, 5 KOs) and Tony Lee (7-1-1, 3 KOs) will battle once again for the vacant Minnesota State Lightweight Title. McLaurin and Lee fought to a majority draw last June leaving the title vacant.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
