Camacho Jr: It’s time to prove it’s Junior time!

Middleweight Hector Camacho Jr. has issued the following statement concerning his shock KO loss to Luis Grajeda last weekend in Mexico:

“I’d like to begin by apologizing to my family, my team, and most importantly my fans. My recent loss made it clear to me that I have a wonderful fan base. Your support during this tough time has been overwhelming and I greatly appreciate it.

“I have no excuses, honestly this loss was my fault. I have disrespected myself as well as the sport of boxing by not being disciplined and true to the sport that I love so much. I have been lazy by not committing like I should and I tried to rely on my ring generalship to win fights. I am not taking anything away from Luis Grajeda, he did what he was supposed to do and the better man won last Saturday. I realize that I need to take my career seriously, so it’s time to put childish things aside before I lose what’s important to me, my career. I’m changing my training regimen and my lifestyle. I am now focused and I am putting 110% effort into my training. I have talked to my promoter Zef Ramirez. He and I care deeply for this sport and we know what needs to be done to make it to the elite level. It is time to prove it’s Junior time! Again, thank you to my fans for your continued support, I won’t let you or myself down again.”

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
