Camacho Jr. returns to Alamo City

After a 16 month absence from the ring, the son of Puerto Rican boxing legend, Hector “Macho” Camacho, has chosen the Alamo City as the appropriate stage to present his long awaited comeback. Hector “Machito” Camacho, Jr. (53-4-1, 28 KOs) will return to San Antonio, TX, on June 23rd at La Villita’s Maverick Plaza  in an eight round main event against Mexican born fighter Bernardo Guereca (16-14-1, 3 KOs).

After 16 years of service to the sweet science, Camacho Jr.  is excited to renew his career in such an historic setting.

“When I initially began my career in 1996, everything didn’t happen the way I thought it would,” explains Camacho. “But that’s what defines a champion is the ability to learn from your mistakes and comeback even stronger. It’s such a blessing to have this opportunity to fight in front of the great boxing fans in San Antonio, TX.”

The 33 year old pugilist will be begin his quest for greatness fighting in the talent enriched 154 pound weight class, which currently features Floyd Mayweather Jr, Miguel Cotto, Saul Alvarez, and James Kirkland from Austin, TX.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
