A source has informed Fightnews.com that there’s a good possibility that Golden Boy Promotions will shortly name the next opponent of WBC super welterweight world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez for his next defense on September 15 in Las Vegas. According to the source, some candidates include James Kirkland, Josesito Lopez, Erislandy Lara, Cornelius Bundrage, Austin Trout and Ricardo Mayorga.
Whoever the opponent winds up being, trainer Jose Reynoso plans to start Alvarez’ training next Wednesday in Santa Monica.
