WBA/WBC super welterweight world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez weighed in Wednesday to comply with the regulations of the World Boxing Council requiring a weigh-in thirty days prior to defending a WBC belt. The weigh in took place in Big Bear, California, with WBC supervisor Rudy Tellez overseeing the proceedings. Canelo scaled in at 166.8 pounds, with 169 being the maximum allowable weight. Alvarez and Floyd Mayweather will collide on September 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Canelo must trim down to 152 lbs. by that date.
