Junior welterweight Ivan “Macanon” Cano (22-3, 15 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over previously undefeated 18-year-old prospect Mauricio “El Trompas” Pintor (17-1-1, 11 KOs), nephew of Mexican Legend Lupe Pintor, on Friday night at the recently renovated Auditorio Plaza Condesa in Mexico City. Cano set the tone for the fight when he dropped Pintor in round one. Pintor had a point deducted in round three for hitting on the break. Pintor hit Cano with a rabbit punch in round six and Cano took the full five minutes to recover (no point deduction). Neither fighter did much down the stretch. With the win, Cano claimed both the vacant WBO and WBC Youth jr. welterweight world titles.
