Australian light heavyweight Blake Capparello (5-0, 2 KOs) scored the best win of his career when he stopped highly regarded Kane McKay (8-9-2, 4 KOs) in eight rounds to capture the World Boxing Foundation Australasian 175 pound title at the Malvern Town Hall in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on Friday. Capparello is scheduled to challenge Shane McConville for the Australian light heavyweight championship on August 8th in a Michael O’Brien promotion.
Cruiserweight Stephen Gillingham (5-3) outscored Aaron Ross (3-3,1 KO) over eight rounds to capture the Victorian State title.
Welterweight Jimmy James (8-2-1, 1 KO) stopped Robert Monitto (2-6, 1 KO) in three rounds of a scheduled eight rounder with the Victorian State title up for grabs.
Super middleweight Lynden Edney (1-0) outpointed Mahamad Ibrahim (0-1) over four.
Lightweights Steven King (0-0-1) and Karam Afgan (0-0-1) punched it out over four rounds for a crowd pleasing drawn decision.
Cruiserweight Marc Pante (1-0) scored a 1st round KO over Matt Muir (0-1).
Light heavyweight Callan Orchard (2-0) won a four round decision over Dave Campbell (2-1).
