Z Entertainment promoter Zef Ramirez announced that the November 8th fight card in Kingman, Arizona has been postponed after main event fighter Carlos DeLeon Jr. (21-3-2, 14 KOs) fell ill last week. “I am deeply disappointed for the boxing fans here in Kingman,” Ramirez said, “there is such a buzz right now in the local community over this fight that I was disappointed that we were forced to postpone the card. But I knew that, for as tough as it was for me, it’s ten times worse for Carlos. He is absolutely devastated over this delay.”
DeLeon contacted Ramirez last week after checking into a hospital in Las Vegas . Although initially believed to be pneumonia, Ramirez indicated that the fighter may have an infection which has caused a leg injury. “Carlos is a warrior,” Ramirez added, “and he didn’t want to jeopardize the entire card over this. But there really is no other alternative; he is just not in any condition to step into the ring next week.” Ramirez indicated that the card would be tentatively rescheduled in January, and that Rollin Williams and Jonathan Jackson Hearns would still be on the card.
