Carmen Basilio passes at 85

Sad to report that ring legend Carmen Basilio passed away today at the age of 85 in Rochester, NY. Basilio, who was the first world champion trained by Angelo Dundee, held the welterweight and middleweight world titles and defeated Sugar Ray Robinson, Tony DeMarco and Art Aragon among others in compiling a 56-16-7 career record with 27 KOs. Hailing from Canastota, New York, he was a regular at activities taking place at the International Boxing Hall of Fame every year.
