Filipino world champion Johnriel Casimero arrived Tuesday in Mazatlan, Sinaloa to defend his IBF light flyweight championship for the first time against Mexican challenger Pedro Guevara on Saturday at the Mazatlan Convention Center on an event presented by Promociones del Pueblo, Box Latino, HG Boxing and Sampson Boxing LLC. “Guevara is a hard and fast opponent. It’ll be a good fight and I feel safe here because I know that in Mexico they respect the fighters,” said Casimero referring to the February incident in Mar del Plata, Argentina, when rioters stormed the ring and attacked Casimero and his team after he dethroned Luis Lazarte.
