Chagaev and Universum to part ways

Former WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev’s promotional contract with longtime promoter Universum was terminated this month by mutual agreement. However, Chagaev will do one more fight under the Universum banner which will probably take place in September in Moscow. “Universum owes Chagaev owes a great deal. He has had great fights. We wish him all the best for the future,” said Universum chief Waldemar Kluch. The move is part of a youth movement by Universum to focus on the development of young prospects.
