On Friday, WBC #6 cruiserweight Rakhim “The Machine” Chakhkiev (14-0, 11 KOs) scored a sixth round TKO over veteran Zack Page (21-39-2, 7 KOs) in an off-TV bout in Göppingen, Germany. Chakhkiev, the 2008 Olympic heavyweight gold medalist, dropped Page in rounds one, five and six before the bout was waved off. “I always wanted a KO from the beginning I have to confess,” stated Chakhkiev. Page had previously gone the distance with the likes of Seth Mitchell, Mike Perez, Edmund Gerber, Manuel Charr, Michael Sprott, Juan Carlos Gomez and Tyson Fury among others. When asked if he’s ready to fight any of the world champions, Chakhkiev commented “Okay, no problem.” He especially wants to face WBO champion Marco Huck. “I would knock him out!” he proclaimed.
Also in action on the Göppingen card was heavyweight Juan Carlos Gomez (51-3, 37 KOs), who outpointed Maksym Pedyura (14-6-1, 11 KOs) over eight. The 38-year-old Gomez is a former WBC cruiser champion.
