Unbeaten WBO Latino light middleweight champion Diego Chaves of Argentina (12-0, 11 KOs) passed his stiffest test to date by stopping veteran and fellow countryman Walter Diaz (26-8-1, 15 KOs) in round two. Diaz entered the bout with three times the number of fights as Chaves and once fought former world champion Raul Balbi. In round one, Chaves displayed his superior hand speed and power rocking Diaz with several flush combinations. In round two, Chaves turned up his attack and floored Diaz with a barrage of punches. Diaz arose but it was obvious the end was near. Chaves closed on him fast and pinned him against the ropes unleashing lightening fast power combinations punctuated with a vicious straight right that sent Diaz to the canvas again. This time Diaz was counted out. The bout took place at the Club Los Indios, Moreno, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The show was promoted by Mario Margossian.
