Mexican ring legend Julio Cesar Chavez celebrates his 50th birthday today. “El Gran Campeón Mexicano,” who compiled a career mark of 107-6-2 with 86 KOs while reigning as a world champion in three divisions commented, “I do it in a great way, more than two years removed from any excess or vice, with my body and my mind clean, happy with my family, with my children, with my personal and professional projects, grateful to God and life.” Chavez sends his thanks to the Mexican fans and all fans in the world who support him and always give tokens of affection.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
