Undefeated No. 1 contender, son of the legend Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and chief trainer Freddie Roach pose during a press conference at the Millennium Biltmore Tuesday to announce their upcoming big fight against Ireland’s John Duddy on “Latin Fury 15”, which will be televised on Top Rank Pay-Per-View, Saturday, June 26 from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
“A trainer like Freddie Roach can take me to the next level,” said Chavez. “I know how tough he is but I will do what he says. With a great training camp I will be able to take on Duddy – who I think is a very good fighter – and win.” Roach added, “Junior has ability and he has a lot to learn. I will see what we have when he gets into the ring at the Wild Card. We are taking on a tough one in Duddy.” Duddy responded, “On June 26 it will be me and Chavez Jr inside the ring. Just the two of us. Freddie Roach will be outside the ropes.” Duddy said he will train in New York City until May 15, then head for a training camp in the Pocono mountains.
