Chavez Jr and Alvarez meet face to face in Las Vegas

By Gabriel F. Cordero

Mexican world champions and rivals Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. were found together during the welcome dinner at the 49th WBC Convention at Mandalay in Las Vegas.

“I’m ready for Rubio, who is expected to win on Friday against Matt Vanda and hopefully without any injuries so that we can meet on February 4 on an HBO date. If not, there are names like Andy Lee and Vanes Martyrosian. As for the Canelo Alvarez, everything has its time and we are here to fight the best. It is rumored that there’s a possibility of an Oscar de la Hoya comeback. I am available if there is good money,” said Chavez Jr.

Canelo stated “I respect Chavez Jr. as a champion and as a Mexican. The fans expect to see that fight but it’s in the hands of our promoters, in this case Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank. But I’m prepared and we’ll have a great fight.”

From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
