There is a possibility of a world title bout between former WBC middleweight champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Martin Murray on August 3 in the new Mexico City Arena. It was initially thought that Chavez Jr would return against Bryan Vera (as tweeted by Vera a few days ago) but Chavez himself has stated he wants to fight Murray, who was narrowly defeated by WBC middleweight champion Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez on April 27 in Buenos Aires. With Martinez suffering an injury that likely puts him out for the year, a WBC interim world title slot could open up. “Hopefully Murray will be encouraged to come to meet me in Mexico City. Our fight could be for the WBC interim world title,” Junior told Esto.
