Scores will be settled and champions could fall on a day of intriguing fights.
San Antonio, Texas: An in-shape Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is a healthy -450 favorite to take care of business against Bryan Vera (+425). Chavez is looking to make a statement against Vera after struggling mightily in their first encounter last September.
In the co-feature, two-time Olympic gold medalist Vasyl Lomachenko is a -450 favorite to win the vacant WBO featherweight belt against Orlando Salido (+450), who lost the title yesterday on the scale. If Lomachenko wins the title in his second pro fight as oddsmakers expect, he will break the record of Thailand’s Saensak Muangsurin who won the WBC super lightweight belt in his third pro fight.
HBO will televise.
Magdeburg, Germany: WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz is a -200 favorite to retain his title against former two-division world champion Arthur Abraham (+225) in their rubber match. The series is tied at 1-1, with Stieglitz dealing a beatdown to King Arthur 12 months ago in their most recent fight. Stieglitz also has the hometown advantage in a bout billed as “Welcome to the Lion’s Den!”
ESPN3.com will stream.
Glasgow, Scotland: Scottish icon Ricky Burns is expected to fall against American challenger Terence Crawford. Despite the hostile surroundings, Nebraskan Crawford is -225 to dethrone Burns (+225), who has been a world champion since defeating Rocky Martinez in 2010. This will be Burns’ tenth consecutive world title clash. He suffered a broken jaw in his last defense in September, a controversial draw against Ray Beltran.
AWE and www.awetv.com will carry the fight.
