By Ray Wheatley–World of Boxing

Ukrainian born and Australian based welterweight, Victor Chermous (9-1, 4 KOs), retained the NSW State title championship against Chad Roy Naidu (2-10-3, 1 KO) by scoring an eight round decision victory at the Revesby Worker Club in Revesby, Sydney, NSW, Australia on Friday. Chermous won the title in May 2010 by stopping Filipino Ariel Omongos in three rounds. Chemous has been based in Australia for several years but was born in Vinitza, Ukraine. He has previously held the NSW light middleweight title. Light middleweight star John Krishna (5-0-1, 1 KO) stopped veteran Fijian Pita Tabauna (22-18-4, 11 KOs) in round one. Light middleweight John Akaulola (4-4-1) outscored Ruben Kennedy (5-5, 1 KO) in four action rounds. The promoter is former Australian lightweight and welterweight contender Paul Nasari of Neutral Corner Promotions.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
