On November 14, at 8:45 a.m., Chicago middleweight Michael Walker was found shot and lying in a gangway on Chicago’s South Side. The officers who responded to the 8200 block of South Drexel Boulevard reported finding Walker unresponsive. Walker was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. As of 4:50 p.m. on November 14, no further information was available.
Walker turned pro in 2004 and remained undefeated until 2008. Throughout his career, Walker maintained a reputation as a fighter willing and capable of challenging some of the division’s toughest and more promising fighters including Ricardo Mayorga, Antwun Echols, Andy Lee, Derrick Findley, Fernando Guerrero, David Lopez and Caleb Truax. Walker’s last fight was a TKO loss to Willie Monroe, Jr. on July 27, 2013; he finished with a record of 19-19-3, 12 KOs.
Michael “The Midnight Stalker” Walker will be missed.
