WBA Super World Featherweight Champion Chris “The Dragon” John (48-0-3, 22 KO’s) will take on the IBO World Featherweight Champion Simpiwe “V12” Vetyeka (25-2, 15 KO’s) in a battle of Featherweight Champions in the Main Event of the next Dragon Fire: World Championship Boxing event on Friday December 6 at Metro City in Perth, Western Australia.
In April this year, Vetyeka stopped Indonesia’s “heir to the throne” Daud Cino Yordan in Jakarta, Indonesia and walked away with the IBO World Featherweight Championship. Chris John, The WBA Fighter of the Decade will be looking to restore Indonesian national pride and avenge the loss of his countryman.
John, a national treasure in his homeland was recently honoured by Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyo with the Bintang Jasa Star medal for outstanding contributions towards John’s native Indonesia, the homeland of 242 Million people. The Dragon will also attempt to create history and equal Eseubio Pedroza’s long standing record of 19 WBA World Featherweight title defenses.
“With dedication, determination & discipline I will not let my people down and on December 6 Indonesia will rise again” said John.
Vetyeka is a two division IBO World Champion in the Featherweight and Bantamweight divisions respectively and an 11 year veteran will be looking to upset the 18 time WBA Featherweight Champion.
“I have won in America, Mexico and also stopped Daud Cino Yordan in his backyard, so Australia prepare for another boxing exhibition” Vetyeka said
John has commenced his preparation for this fight at Harry’s Gym in Balcatta with Team Dragon Fire.
